Tis the Season of LOVE!! It is Christmas time

Well what can I say; I am doing a good job! Considering the fact that I have regularly been updating my blog world!

Christmas just around the corner, the ambiance is just wonderful. Lights everywhere, everyone in a festive mood. Seeing everybody happy makes me happy.
This is like our “ Dashain and Tihar.” However much I try not to eavesdrop on other people’s conversation, I find myself doing so. Well especially in the bus and train and many of the conversation starts with. “ When are you going home.” Everyone is going home to be with their family.

Weekend was fun. My husband had his raag’s performance. He sang Raag Bhairabhi. He has sung a lot of them and I believe, he sang Raag Bhairabhi in his last performance. It was EXCELELNT!

In the beginning, I always had this impression of Raag being “ Old and Boring,” well trust me this is not the case. This is my third time and his raag has been ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!

After the performance, I went to this little get together at Muna aunty’s house. I got SAMOSA and no, I did not make it, I got it from the Indian store. We had this little gift swapping session, and I got 3 beautiful “bath and body’s” lotions, which smells so Christmassy! I also met couple of my cousins at the party and it was nice, chatting with them after long time.

The potluck was unbelievable. We had variety of dishes ranging from Avacado salad to Pilaf, chwila to kashi ko masu. The bottom line here is that the FOOD WAS Superb!!

Sunday was very laid back. We had a heavy brunch. I made egg and shrimp burrito and then we hung around the city. Bought some winter clothes and got back and watched “ Monsoon Wedding.” This was my third time. It has depicted the wedding scenario very well. Both my husband and I, since we are newly married could relate to lot of stuff from the move.

The fun character in the movie is Mr. Dubey. The acting is Phenomenal !

If you have not seen this! It is a must see one! I beleive it was even nomintaed for the Golden Globe!! Need I say more!

Focus and determination - pursue your goal like a tiger would his prey, and don't stop until it is yours

Apprentice is over!! (For those of you who do not know, this is a show, a 13-week interview process ran by Donald Trump, the tycoon of New York City. The 16 contestants are divided into two teams with a team leader. Each group is assigned a particular job and at the end of the day, the loosing team is called into the “ board room,” and the weakest link gets “FIRED. ”)

Apprentice, aside from been exciting is really an educational show. It really depicts a "True,” working world and prepares you with an unseen circumstances. Watching this show, you will grasp how your naiveté and your friendly trait could actually work against you.

At work! You have no friends and CAN actually trust no one. If your company is going to layoff, it is either going to be you or our colleague. You will be alone!

Fight!! Fight!! and Fight!!This is one thing that I learned for sure from this show.

I am a fighter, maybe a 90% fighter. But thanks to my husband!! I have become a real 100% fighter.I reminisce my senior year in college where I got a B in this class. I had worked really hard for it and I deserved an A. I was really appalled when I saw that “B.” Had I not worked for that class, I would have been satisfied with this but the truth was, I had really put an effort for it and deserved nothing other than an A!! I went to my professor and expressed my stance. After our conversation, I realized that it was not going to be an easy ride. I had to fight!! And I did!! I was determined to get an A and was ready to take it to the next level by going to the Admission of Board. However my drive and perseverance paid off!!

I won! I received an A and did not have to go to the Committee. That was a Victory!

(I hope to be able to share a lot of “Sweet Victories” story in my blog in near future!!)

In order to strive in the Business World today!! You need to be a fighter. I was rooting for Rebecca, but somewhere I had a feeling that Randal would win and He DID!! He is a guy with an education background from MIT and OXFORD, and a Rhodes scholar with his own consultancy firm. I guess nothing can beat this combination.

Nonetheless, Rebecca, a 23 year old fighter on the other hand is just not anyone. She broke her ankle in the second week and despite that, she ended up being a finalist. Oodles of applauses to her! She definitely is a role model for lot of women.

I look forward to watching the new "Apprentice" in the spring!

Wow! What an amazing picture!! I was just surfing the net and voila there it was. So Strong and Concrete! Eye can be your Strongest Weapon!

Let me begin my day. The Wednesday!!

I had an appointment with one of the MBA directors at Babson at 2:00. I made a quick glance outside my window. The sun was up and smiling; but my instinct told me not to get fooled by its appearance and YES!! I follow my instinct.

In order to avoid any foreseen circumstances, I swiftly grabbed my sweater and slipped onto the available slippers on the floor and rushed outside.

Looks can be Deceiving! Sun was smiling at me BUT It was cooolllllldd!!!!!!!!!!

The coffee is ready and its aroma has succeeded in conquering our apartment. Our whole apartment smells so good!! I grab the hot coffee and started to bundle up. My destination today was at Babson. After getting ready, I make my way outside. Outside to the snowy and windy world!!

The white carpet of Snow still lay in front of our apartment. I take every precaution possible to avoid falling on the street. As I look up, I see my bus roar by. Shoot!! I missed the bus by 1 min. That is fine, I will wait another 10 minutes. Slowly and steady, I made it to the bus station.

YES!!! It indeed is a big accomplishment, however, my journey has not even started.

I wait and wait and the bus arrives nearly after 20 minutes. Thank god! I enter inside the bus gleefully and within the next 15 min I am at the Alewife station. I was about 20 min behind my time margin but when I got to the station so quickly I was relieved.

I got the token and went to the platform.

Tick tok, tick tok!! The train is not here… Where is the train?!

I could feel the blood rushing inside me at 90 /miles per second. Oh what a torment! I decide to take the train after months, and the day I take it, it decides to get LATE!! Uggh!!! Train arrives, 15 min late… ok!! At least it is here. … I need to get to the Park Street and change into the Green line and get to the Riverside. Just thinking about this made me uncomfortable in my stomach. Would I make it in time? Along with the other impatient riders, I hurriedly enter inside the train. Now it has to make the move… It does not move….. the door finally shuts and the train moves thank god!!

Not so quick Deepti, I hear someone whispering. It is coming from inside and the train stops at Porter square.. I should have known!!! “Sorry for an inconvenience, the train is running into some difficulties, we kindly ask the passengers to get into the next train!”

Need I say more…………… This is how my Day began!!!

Huffing and Puffing!! I did make it to BABSON!!! Thanks to my hubby, who took a short break from his work to drop me at School from the T station.

The school is wonderful. The thing that I like the most… amongst many things is how you can actually grab a Wall Street Journal off a shelf. Quite impressive isn’t it?

My appointment went well. Let’s not get into that!

My mission is accomplished!!

What are World Heritage Sites?

“Cultural Heritage Sites, such as Kathmandu Valley in Nepal or the Archaeological Sites of Troy in Turkey, represent masterpieces of creative genius, outstanding architectural structures or examples of traditional human settlement.”

I was so ecstatic to read this. I recently got the ISIC, the International Student card. Trust me you really do get good deal by getting this card. Especially if you are travelling abroad.. museums and theatres... usually 40% off. Not bad eh!

I was surfing the museum section and came across the little " World Heritage" section designated by the UNESCO. And there it was, our country "NEPAL." It made me proud. Proud to have come from the city of such heritage sites.

Today is going to be a short one. It is awfully cold outside. I just finished my Global Marketing Class where I am learning to do business in Mexico. We had a small simulation case. Very interesting one of course!

Usually after the class, I take a bus at the Harvard Square and go home, but today, even walking few seconds in just excruciating. Simply could not take the risk. I am waiting for my husband who has a Raag practice, I have yet to tell you about the RAAG world……. well not to worry, some other time. I just do not want to describe it in a rush. He has his Raag final this Saturday and it is absolutely melodious. You will simply love it. My mum has actually recommended us to see the movie called “ Morning Raag,” starring Shabana Azmi. Not seen it yet..

Oh!!! Here is the phone call.. Time for me to go.. Have a good night!

Ciao

“You are beautiful..” I hear the song play on the T.V. Such a beautiful song.

This is the new one from James Blunt and I absolutely love it. It sounds very similar to the ones of Tracy Chapman, but still is quiet unique.

It is so pretty this morning. The snow is glistening and the sun is shining and it is Monday!!
I anticipate this day to be relaxed, now that all the studying is done (well for a time being)! however, I realise lot of thing still needs to be taken care of. The hotel needs to get booked; the tickets need to be bought ASAP and most of all the French Visa. We still need to get it.

I went to the STA travel in the morning hoping not to have to deal with the same representative we had over the weekend. I enter the office and there she is smiling right back at me. Can I ignore her, apparently not since she is the only on at the desk. Reluctantly, I sat next to her and start to inquire about the Euro pass. “ Oops,” she said, “the system just went down, do you mind checking back later?” “ Absolutely not” was what I was thinking, “ Sure,” I said and headed out gleefully.

This lady was not the friendliest creature. Anyways, when I went back to the office for the second time, I was happy to see that lady helping a man. This other fellow, Ethan, helped me book the ticket and made an “ International Student cards,” for both my husband and I. Good deal! I thought!

Weekend was good. Moderate I suppose. Did not do anything special. We made it to the Harry Potter movie with Shailendra dai and Ishwar dai. I loved it. This movie like the first third parts is filled with the magical Aura and really fun to watch.

Priti, my sister, made it to the first show on the day it got released and has already seen it twice. Well her story is different. Both my sister and my brother are Harry Potter fans and addicted with the books. I guess you can get passionate if you continually follow to read all the volumes. For me, it is simply the time pass.

So long for today.

Dec 11th

I am writing after 4 days. Not bad. I am proud of myself. I love writing. I used to write diaries during my college years then all of a sudden, I stopped. The blame goes to my junior and senior year in college where I was taking 21 credits or I suppose I was just being a procrastinator. Anyways, I am glad I have started to write back. This will be a fun journey and I intend not to let this journey end!

:) You remember the worst snow I was talking about….. DÉJÀ VU!! It came back. But unfortunately it was on Friday. (Nope, the work did not get canceled and neither did the class)

To begin with, it started with a little snow is the morning, turned into rain and then into massive snowstorm by the afternoon. Snows everywhere, traffic everywhere, it was CRAZY!!

However, on the other end. The scene looked absolutely GORGEOUS!! The white carpet of snow covered on the ground was indeed a beautiful scene and the view of Charles river was simply Gorgeous!!! I had to take the test that day.. by the way it is over.. and yes!! I do not want to talk about the topic ever again.. Hopefully, I will not have to. So I had to go take the test early in the snowy morning. I was dropped off by my husband and then after the test I had to go back to the apt myself.

There was no sign of snow to stop; rather, it was getting more and more heavy. Since we live in an area where they have no T, I was forced to take the bus. To get to the bus station from the T, I had to walk. Yup!! I had to walk outside that heavy snow. (Looking back, it was a fun experience but then trust me, it was not!! I am slowly beginging to understand why my husband always complains about the winter weather in Boston! ) It was suffocating. You are trying to walk but would find your feet stuck into the 5-inch snow. I was trying to walk but for a sec did not even know where I was cause it was completely white. The throbbing gust of wind was not being any helpful. I could see people landing on their back because of the slippery snow and prayed that I would not have to be one of them. Little did I know about that, just when I thought I was about to get near the bus station, I slipped and landed on the street. Ouch!!

Thank god! I was not alone. This friendly lady helped me stand up. If it was just anyother day, it would have been embarassing, but that day I cared less!! :) Brushing away the snow on my jeans and jacket, I followed the crowd of students from Harvard University and after 15 minutes of struggle I made it to the bus station.

It usually takes about 20 min at the most, but that day, it took almost 2 hours.
The traffic was literally moving every 10 minutes. Our bus got stuck in the snow three times. It it was any other regular day I would not have mind walking, but that was simply impossible. Had I walked, I would have been in bed with pneumonia. I finally get home after boundless two hours.

I treated myself with a hot coffee and was woken up by the door buzz. My husband was home!! That night we watched the Hindi movie “ Nazar.” OK movie, I would not recommend to anyone. Not a Friday night movie and you should definitely not watch it alone.

Everyone looks quite focused on their laptop. I try to focus, to my dismay I loose my patience and find myself gazing at the ceiling of the library. This is my seventh hour. I have been here since 9:30 and trying to gather every part of brain in answering the questions on GMAT’s critical Reasoning. God!! How I wished I did not have to go through this. I really do not think it is fair upon a human nature to go through traumatizing ordeal of GMAT? I am looking an easy way, am I not? But the whole studying cycle is just too tiring. This is like a re-occurring nightmare for me. I just want this over!

Today is Dec 7th. A very cold and gloomy day here in Boston. Frankly speaking quite lucky since we have not had any snowstorm yet. We were actually expecting one yesterday, a “ worst snow storm,” claimed by the weather reporter. We had little flurries in the morning. I was hoping for a snow and wished both my class and my husband's work would get cancelled. Nope it did not happen. Our Sun god decided to play to play against our favour and there were snow at all. It just got colder!!

BLOG WORLD!!!! I was really interested in having my own after I read Paresh dai and Srijana's.This is sort of like your own little diary but in this case you are sharing with your closed ones.

Let me tell you a bit about the weekend. Friday both my husband and I, we went to this Turkish restaurant! The name said “ Family restaurant,” and we had an image of this formal ambiance ones. We were both surprised to find out that it was actually a Turkish diner type.

The dinner was good and we both enjoyed it. Over the weekend, we also managed to watch a movie. Well I made my husband watch one of my favorite movies, “ The legend of fall.” This was my sixth time. I really like this movie. The setting of this movie is absolutely breathtaking. My husband really liked the movie. I love watching movies and we try to watch at least one movie over the weekend. The next one in the list is “ The Braveheart,” another of my favorite ones.

I guess this is it for now since I have no exciting news to share as I have been in the library the whole day.

Sayonara!
